The quick answer

Use the recurring charge and billing period to compare plans. Treat an introductory discount as a separate, temporary saving rather than the cost of keeping your world online.

Start with a normal month

A group normally decides what it can spend before it picks a server. A first-month promotion can quietly reverse that decision: the price looks comfortable, the world gets established, and the recurring bill arrives after everyone has stopped shopping.

Write the renewal amount beside the offer before comparing anything else. Include the billing period and any features you actually need. If a plan is charged annually, write the cash payment as well as the monthly equivalent. Those numbers answer different questions.

The point is not that discounts are bad. It is that a temporary discount should not decide whether a persistent world remains affordable.

Make the bill split explicit

If several friends share the cost, agree who pays the provider and how the group reimburses them. Include what happens if two people stop playing. A plan that needs every invited player to contribute can become awkward long before the server needs more resources.

Use the bill-splitting tool with the recurring price. Then try it with fewer contributors. That simple scenario is often more useful than estimating a year of perfectly consistent payments.

Keep a little room for change without prepaying for an untested setup. Your first commitment should make it easy to learn whether the plan actually fits.

Know what leaving costs

Read the cancellation and refund rules before ordering. A trial window can be narrower than the first billing period, and a cancellation may affect access to backups. Ask how to export the world while the account is healthy.

Record the renewal date somewhere the responsible person will see it. Check the export workflow early enough that you can still change your mind. A cheap first month is useful when it buys a reversible experiment; it is less useful when it hides an expensive exit.

Our comparison pages will distinguish verified renewal prices from promotions once live pricing is connected. Commercial pages remain excluded from indexing while their editorial coverage is reviewed. Published prices are dated snapshots rather than live checkout totals.
